Introduction
This article is about how to assess classes and groups with SNAP Maths.
SNAP Maths allows you to assess classes and groups, enabling you screen multiple pupils at once for maths difficulties/dyscalculia and/or maths anxiety.
Assessing a Class or Group
Once a class or group has been selected you are taken to the Assess screen.
Underneath the Helpful resources and Letter to parents boxes you will see a Taking the activities box. This is where you will find your centre’s unique activities URL and the centre code pupils in the class/group will need to access their pupil dashboard and take the activities on-screen.
Please note: this information can also be found in the Resource Bank, which does not require you to select a class or group first.
To take the activities and answer the pupil questionnaire, pupils will need access to a computer, laptop, or tablet. For specific browser requirements please go here. Please ensure that pupils also have access to headphones.
Either you or the pupils will need to enter your centre’s specific URL into their web browser to access the activities. This will need to be done on every computer, laptop, or tablet. Pupils will also need to enter their centre code and birthday (day and month only).
To ensure that pupil data remains secure, you can change your centre code at any time by clicking Change code on the Assess page or in the Resource Bank.
Please note: when you generate a new code, make sure you inform anyone who may be planning to run a SNAP Maths assessment. This is to ensure that pupils can access their activities during their session, as the old code will no longer work.
The steps for pupils to access the activities and pupil questionnaire via their pupil dashboard are as follows:
1. Pupils enter the five-letter code which is unique to your centre:
2. Pupils then enter their birthday date and month:
If a pupil enters their birthday incorrectly, they will see an error message. Check their details.
3. Once they have entered their birthday, pupils just need to choose their name from those that appear onscreen:
4. Once they have selected their name the pupil dashboard will open, and they will be able to take all the activities and complete the pupil questionnaire on-screen:
If required, a pupil can log out by clicking the arrow next to their name in the top-right hand corner. This can be useful if a pupil has accidentally logged in using someone else’s birthday. They will be taken to the first log in screen and asked to enter the code:
Pupils can complete the activities in any order, and once complete a green tick will appear:
You will see a green tick for the relevant pupil on the Assess page:
You will also be able to see once they have completed their pupil questionnaire:
Note that the teacher and parent questionnaire for each pupil in a class or group will need to be completed on the ‘Assess’ page. Use the dropdown menu to select the pupil and input the questionnaire data:
To keep track of pupils’ progress you can switch between the different pupils in a class or group by using the dropdown menu on the ‘Assess’ page:
Please note: when a class or group has been selected, it not possible to access the activities from the Assess page. They will be greyed out (as shown below) until the pupil has completed the activity via the Pupil dashboard (as described above):
You can also track a class or group’s progress by downloading the Class Report / Group Report, which are available on the Choose and Plan, Do and Review pages.
On the Choose page, select the class or group and click Download class report or Download group report:
On the Plan, Do and Review, page the Class Report / Group Report can be found in the Helpful resources section:
If you would prefer to observe a pupil in a class or group as they take the activities, and would like to assess them individually, you can search for and select the pupil from the Choose page as explained here.
