Assigning Functional Skills Assessments

Introduction

This article will show you how to assign Functional Skills assessments to your learners.

Before you can assign an assessment to a learner, they must be registered and have access to Boost.

Once assigned, learners will have access to 'Initial Assessment: Level 1'. Boost will then automatically assign new work based on their performance.

Assigning an Assessment

1. Log in to Boost.
2. Click Open a Course on the main dashboard or the Courses icon on the left.
3. Click the triangular share icon on the relevant subject.
4. Untick the options to 'Include all Knowledge Tests' and 'Include teacher-only resources'. 
   • You can leave one or both of these options ticked if you prefer, and the system will still auto-assign work as intended. However, sharing all Knowledge Tests will also allow learners to complete the assessments as they see fit; sharing teacher-only resources will give them access to the answer sheets.
5. Select the 'Initial assessment only' or 'Full subscription' credit.
   • Learners who are assigned the 'Initial assessment only' credit will be able to see any diagnostic tests assigned to them. However, they won't be able to access them until you upgrade them to the 'Full subscription' credit.
6. CC any colleagues you would like to notify of the share so that they can view and edit it. (Optional.) 
7. Click Next. 
8. Tick the students, groups, or classes you'd like to assign the assessment to, then click Done.
