Introduction
This article will show you how to complete a Functional Skills assessment as a learner.
When your tutor first assigns you a Functional Skills credit for English or Maths, you will be assigned 'Initial Assessment: Level 1'. Boost will automatically assign subsequent assessments and learning resources based on your performance.
For more information, see our articles on the auto-assignment logic for Maths and English.
Taking a Functional Skills Assessment
- Log in to Boost.
- Click My Subjects and Work on the main dashboard.
- Select the test assignment under the To Do list.
- Click Start.
- Work your way through the test.
- You can navigate between questions using the Next and Back buttons at the bottom of the screen, or by clicking the question numbers on the left.
- You can save and exit the test at any time by clicking Exit Activity in the bottom left.
- On the final question, click Complete to save and complete the test. You will not be able to edit your answers after this point.
- The summary screen will display your final score and the time taken to complete the test. You will also be able to review the correct answers for questions you have gotten wrong. Click Exit Activity to close the test.
- In some cases, a question may need to be manually marked by your tutor before you can see the correct answer and final marks are displayed. Boost will notify your tutor automatically if this is the case.
- If Boost has automatically assigned new work for you to complete after finishing the assessment, this will be listed under 'Next Steps' on the left. You can open these resources from the summary screen or find them again later via the To Do tab.
