Tips and best practice for CSV uploads

    Follow

When uploading your CSV please ensure:

    • You have downloaded the template from the Admin Hub
    • All headers in Row 1 remain unedited
    • All columns with an asterisk have been filled in
    • You have saved this as a ‘.csv’ file before uploading
    • We would also recommend doing multiple uploads, for example one year group/a few classes at a time, this will help you to keep track of uploads and any possible error reports

When entering your data please ensure the below:

Column A ‘Action’ - must have either ‘A’ to add new pupils, or ‘E’ to edit existing pupils.

Column C ‘User Type’ - must have ‘S’ for student.

Column D ‘First name’ – must have a pupils first name

Column F ‘Last name’ – must have a pupils surname

Column G ‘Year group’ – must enter a year group which matches those within your Admin Hub, this may cause an error if:

    1. your year groups have not been ticked in the ‘Year Group settings’ tab in the Amin Hub before uploading your CSV or,
    2. if the year groups in your CSV and the Admin Hub are not matched exactly, including any spaces and capitalisation. If you are being returned with errors despite matching, use the "x" tab to check if the entry has a trailing space

Column H ‘Class’ – must enter a class name which matches those within your Admin Hub, this may cause an error if:

    1. your classes have not been named and created in the ‘Classes’ tab in the Amin Hub before uploading your CSV or,
    2. if the classes in your CSV and the Admin Hub are not matched exactly, including any spaces and capitalisation. If you are being returned with errors despite matching, use the "x" tab to check if the entry has a trailing space

Column I ‘Date of birth’ – must be entered in the format 00/00/0000

    Column J ‘Gender’ – must enter ‘F’ or ‘M’

Columns K–P, R-U – although these are optional, this may cause an error if you enter anything except ‘Y’ or ‘N’

Column Q ‘SEN Status’ - although optional, this may cause an error if you enter anything except 'S' (for Statement), 'E' (for Education, Health and Care Plan) and 'K' (for Education Support)

Column V ‘Access to application’ – add a ‘Y’ if you wish to grant access the pupil access to MARK or ‘N’ if you would like to add them to your centre’s user database, but without access MARK. This may report an error if you have added ‘Y’ or ‘N’ in columns W or X, rather than V.
