Introduction
User access allows you to control who has access to your Boost subscriptions and data without having to permanently remove them from your school's Hodder Education account. It can only be managed by the Access Coordinator.
This article explains how user access works for teachers and students in Boost. It also shows you how to grant and revoke their access to your Boost account.
Teacher Access
If you add a teacher in the Boost Admin Hub, then they will be given access to Boost automatically.
However, if a teacher was added to your school's Hodder Education account via another platform's Admin Hub (MARK or Hodder Education Magazines, for example), then they will not have access to Boost and won't be able to log in.
Similarly, teachers who register themselves to your school account on one of our marketing sites (Hodder Education, Rising Stars, Galore Park) will only have limited access to Boost. This means that they can log in and view your resources, but they won't be able to share them with students or open the Admin Hub.
Users with no or limited access can submit an access request to the Access Coordinator by logging in to Boost with their email address and password. When the Access Coordinator next logs in, they will be prompted to review these requests.
Alternatively, the Access Coordinator can grant access and revoke access to teachers via the Admin Hub. To grant access:
- Log in to Boost as the Access Coordinator.
- Click the Admin Hub icon in the top right corner.
- Find the teacher you'd like to grant access to in Teachers > Limited/Without Access.
- The Limited Access tab is only visible when there are users with limited access.
- You can sort the lists by clicking the headers at the top. Alternatively, type you can type the teacher's name into the search bar in the top right.
- Select the teacher you'd like to grant access to and click Grant Access to Selected in the bottom left corner.
- Select teachers in bulk by selecting a row, holding 'Shift', and then selecting another row further down the list. Select multiple teachers at once by holding 'Ctrl' and clicking multiple rows.
Revoking access follows the same basic steps. However, you'll need to look for the teachers you want to revoke access to under Teachers > With/Limited Access instead, then select Revoke Access in the bottom left.
Note that revoking access to a user is not the same as deleting them. If you would like to a permanently delete a teacher from your school's Hodder Education account, click here.
Student Access
If you add a student in the Boost Admin Hub, then they will be given access to Boost automatically.
However, if a student was originally added to your school account via another platform's Admin Hub (MARK or Hodder Education Magazines, for example), then they will not have access to Boost and won't be able to log in.
To grant access to your students so that you can share online lessons with them and assign tests and track their results:
- Log in to Boost as the Access Coordinator.
- Click the Admin Hub icon in the top right corner.
- Find the student you'd like to grant access to in Students > Without Access.
- You can sort the lists by clicking the headers at the top. Alternatively, type the student's name into the search bar in the top right.
- Select the student you'd like to grant access to and click Grant Access to Selected in the bottom left corner.
- Select students in bulk by selecting a row, holding 'Shift', and then selecting another row further down the list. Select multiple students at once by holding 'Ctrl' and clicking multiple rows.
Revoking access follows the same basic steps. However, you'll need to look for the students you want to revoke access to under Students > With Access instead, then select Revoke Access in the bottom left.
Note that revoking access to a user is not the same as deleting them. If you would like to a permanently delete a learner from your school's Hodder Education account, click here.
