    Reading Planet Online for Reception and KS1

    Reading Planet Online for Reception and KS1 offers the full range of Reading Planet KS1 print books in a convenient digital format, so that these can be accessed online at school or at home. Each eBook features an audio recording that is synchronised to the text, highlighting each word as it is heard. The eBooks also include checkpoint quizzes and an end-of-book quiz to check children’s comprehension skills. The questions in the end-of-book quizzes are linked to important reading skills (content domains), such as vocabulary, sequencing and inference.

     

    The eBooks in Reading Planet Online for Reception and KS1 are organised into four main strands:

    Lilac band, wordless fiction and non-fiction books designed to get children started on their reading journey and using skills such as sequencing, retelling a narrative and tuning into the sounds of English. This strand also includes Lift-off First Words – picture books that introduce some simple decodable words and short phrases to prepare children for Pink band books.

    Rocket Phonics, an engaging collection of fully decodable fiction and non-fiction books based on the phonics progression of Letters and Sounds, but can be used alongside most phonics programmes.

    Comet Street Kids, highly decodable stories based on the lives and adventures of a group of feisty friends (Rav, Asha, Finn, Tess and Stefan) who live in the same apartment block on Comet Street and who go to the same primary school.

    Galaxy, an exciting range of fiction and non-fiction, including modern and traditional stories, poetry, plays and biographies to introduce children to wider reading for pleasure and interest across the curriculum.

    Reading Planet Online for KS2

    Reading Planet Online for KS2 offers the full range of Reading Planet KS2 print books, plus the Reading Planet Astro range (for struggling and reluctant readers at KS2) in a convenient digital format, so that these can be accessed online at school or at home. The eBooks include checkpoint quizzes and an end-of-book quiz to check children’s comprehension skills. The questions in the end-of-book quizzes are linked to important reading skills (content domains), such as vocabulary, sequencing and inference. Astro eBooks also feature an audio recording that is synchronised to the text, highlighting each word as it is heard.

    Reading Planet Rocket Phonics Programme

    Within Rocket Phonics Online, you will find a range of teaching resources, including innovative ‘Big Books’ for introducing each new letter-sound within the context of a colourful and engaging story, and flashcards with built-in audio that can be used to teach and review the letter-sounds. There are also highly supportive Teacher’s Guides and regular assessments, as well as resources for visual display and pupil reference, such as the Friezes and Sounds Mats.

    The fully decodable Target Practice and Rocket Phonics reading books have been designed to appeal to the tastes and interests of children who are starting out on their reading journey. They include a variety of fiction and non-fiction, and have been carefully devised to provide practice and application of phonics knowledge and skills in full alignment with the programme. All of the reading books can be assigned to individual pupils or groups, and include interactive quizzes to develop children’s comprehension skills.
